Basalt wool

Insulation basalt wool in its composition contains fibers of basalt rocks with a thickness of approximately 1 - 15 microns. They intertwine, forming cells with air inside the insulator. Therefore, the material qualitatively keeps heat inside the structure and does not let in sound.

Basalt wool insulates the internal and external surfaces of walls, roofs, and protects stoves, boilers and various pipelines from heat loss. Insulation basalt wool receives reviews mainly due to its strength and stability over a wide range of temperatures.

Insulation basalt wool

Advantages of basalt wool:

  • the material does not change its properties at temperatures up to + 1000 ° C;
  • resistant to sharp temperature changes;
  • resistant to aggressive chemicals (acid, solvent, alkali);
  • not subject to deformation;
  • repels water;
  • non-combustible material, does not support combustion;
  • not covered with fungus and mold;
  • in the process of technological heating within the permissible limits does not emit hazardous compounds;

Disadvantages:

  • over time, the insulator at the junction can form gaps and the thermal insulation performance of the coating is violated.
  • due to the high vapor permeability, basalt insulation cannot be used to insulate objects that are constantly exposed to moisture, it can be basement floors and foundations.

I am rebuilding a private house and building additional rooms. The house stands in an open area, it is constantly blown by the wind, so in winter it is always cool inside. It became clear that without wall insulation this problem can not be solved. My friends advised me to use glass wool, but I wanted to buy something newer and better for home.

I found the site of the company "First House", there are several types of modern insulation. The seller of the store recommended using basalt insulation Technofas Cottage for my purposes. It has such advantages as: fire resistance, service life up to 50 years, heat and sound insulation, waterproof, conducts steam and is resistant to rodents and insects.

For me, these factors became decisive and I began to warm the house with the help of Technofas Cottage products. The house has become warmer and quieter due to sound insulation. In general, I was satisfied.

Experience of using basalt heat and sound insulation Maxforte EcoPlita
A comment
I am engaged in construction and installation works throughout our mother Russia. I want to leave a review about one manufacturer of basalt wool in Russia - the company McForte. We use mainly for heat and sound insulation in various rooms. There is a different cotton wool and different density, based on the applications and requirements for sound insulation. We mainly use it for walls and ceilings - Maxforte Ekoplita and Maxforte Ekoplita Pro (professional line) for enhanced sound insulation. For comparison, the test ducts at the NIISF 50 mm Maxforte Ecoplita replaces 150 mm min of cotton wool Rockwool Acoustic Batts !!! I also want to note the excellent density and high quality of this 100% basalt wool !!!
pros
high quality basalt wool
environmental friendliness
much less dust and less dust than analogues
high sound insulation properties in the construction
high acoustic performance
if small packages of 2.4 sqm
Minuses
I’ll probably say the cost, but it's worth it

Basvul - Best value for money!

Engaged in cladding facades of private housing. From customers only positive feedback. I like low thermal conductivity, good noise absorption, Basvul has a high density, since even light 45 is hard to touch and suitable for siding.

Basalt insulation HOTROCK
A comment
The material fully met expectations. There were doubts, because the price was lower than the nearest competitors, but decided to rely on the reviews of the superintendent. An ideal combination of price and quality.
pros
well dampens noise, easy to install and affordable. For those who do not want to pay for well-known brands, but rely on quality. They say that 95% consists of pure basalt and is absolutely environmentally friendly.
Minuses
There were doubts about the choice, because the brand is not untwisted.

Basalt cotton wool is a reliable heat preserver!
A comment
I live in a private house, and as our family is gradually growing, I have to attach additional rooms. We had to attach the children's bedroom from the wrong side, where a strong wind blew in winter, and after the first winter it became clear that without warming the walls in the room it would always be cool.

The first thought was the traditional glass wool, it was also recommended by parents who did not even hear about other heaters. But the seller in the store talked about basalt wool, which was used to build the store.

The main advantages for the purchase was the fact that basalt insulation can be installed not only on the wall, but also on the roof, pipes and various ceilings.

We used basalt insulation almost everywhere: on the walls, on the floor, in the attic. It turned out to be a little pricey pleasure, but it’s been a year since we finished the perestroika, but we can’t get enough of it. The heat in the house lasts longer, and on the walls that are constantly damp, finally dry!
pros
simplicity in work, keeps heat, provides good noise isolation

BELTEP basalt slab - an excellent solution for a gable roof
A comment
In recent years, there has been a problem of roof insulation in the country - a standard gable roof. In windy weather it became cold, the heat from the stove instantly disappeared. We decided to stay on the BELTEP brand basalt wool. Pleased with the price, and friends advised as a quality insulation.

I can’t say anything about the laying, because the builders did this work (by the way, the tiles were cut with a knife), but the thermal insulation properties are at an altitude - there are no more problems with cold, and in the summer it became easier to breathe, the roof practically does not heat up. The manufacturer also promises a long service life. Based on my own experience, I can say that our roof has been covered with wool for only a year, and my friends have been 5 years old and they are happy: no changes during this period.

I would like to note such important advantages as incombustibility and waterproofness. Steam can freely pass through the stoves, and moisture will not accumulate. A wide selection of options will help you choose the type of basalt wool for your purposes, taking into account the density, thickness, etc.d.
pros
does not burn, does not get wet, excellent heat-insulating qualities, does not deform, passes steam

Rockwool basalt wool - save from the cold winter
A comment
My girlfriend bought a private house two winters ago. The deal took place in the fall, the former mistress assured that the cold is not terrible, the walls are thick. However, in reality it turned out to be wrong. At minus 15 in the rooms it became fresh. And my girlfriend’s children are small and my mother is elderly. Everybody loves warmly.

Somehow we survived the first winter, and with the onset of heat we decided to insulate the walls of the house. There was money, so they bought Rockwool basalt cotton wool. Expensive! The seller praised: both environmentally friendly and very warm, and will serve for 35-40 years.

They hired specialists, the walls were insulated from the inside (reinsured), because moisture can get outside. And any basalt cotton wool does not tolerate water. All her vaunted qualities disappear immediately when she gets wet.

This winter, my girlfriend is not afraid of frost. Warm in the house and comfortable. And she did not feel sorry for the money spent on basalt wool, especially since she began to pay less for electricity. I don’t know if this cotton wool will last more than 30 years, time will tell. But so far, everything that the seller talked about is confirmed.
pros
Very warm, energy saving, long service life with proper operation.
Minuses
High price, basalt cotton wool "afraid" of water

more than five years
