Ecowool

Ecowool is the collective name of such a category of materials as cellulose insulation. The advantages of the material are that it is environmentally friendly, does not rot, fireproof, and holds heat well. Ecowool is produced by recycling waste paper and adding additives such as antiseptics, binders and flame retardants to the mass - substances that impede combustion. Ecowool is being sold in Russia relatively recently, but its qualities allow it to quite confidently conquer the market. Environmental friendliness, versatility, price - all this is the quality of such insulation as ecowool, reviews, the disadvantages and advantages of which you can see below.

Ecowool Harm
A comment
Those who write about the dangers of ecowool, I propose to measure the concentration of borates in the air of my house, insulated with ecowool four years ago. Before conducting this examination, I consider all arguments about harm to be unsolvent. My phone is 89817469744, Vladimir.

Sprayed wet method into the crate from the gypsum profile on the outer north-western wall of the country house measuring 12 by 6 m (very curved). Very good sticks well to the wall. It is easily equal to a rule on a crate in a wet form. Top siding. I scored with cotton wool in a dry way inside the room the cavity between the cinder block and gypsum. Also spray dry with a minimum number of holes in the walls.

The cinder block on the other 3 walls is covered with 50 mm foam. The heat and sound insulation properties of the house are much better. In the summer it is cool, in the winter it is warm. Heating 2 buleryan on 2 floors and 3-5 cubic hornbeam per season. 10-15 tyr. Crimea. We only carry gas.
pros
Audio and thermal comfort for little money. I didn’t notice any allergies. An open bag of ecowool under rainfall has absorbed very little in 10 years. Minimum costs for leveling the walls after hand-mantled masons and for exterior decoration. Ideally for wooden structures. No rats have been observed. Sparrows foam under the siding peck for nests, but do not climb into the cotton.
Minuses
Wet method - only with a special installation. And work experience. From weathering and precipitation, be sure to cover with lining, siding, etc.

Ecowool
A comment
If you want an eco-house, mow the reeds in winter on ice and insulate the attic and cover with a mixture of clay and straw from above and you will save money as our grandfathers built.I have been working as a roofer for twenty years and have breathed in tons of insulation. After basalt, we drink milk and still get up in the morning with fumes in my head. And the ever-flying crystal of insulation in the room it is simply impossible to remove them from ten years, you will breathe them forever and earn tuberculosis. Or you will have to, as we walk in our house all our lives in a respirator. Ecowool works as a noise and heat insulator much better than all mineral insulation. I will not argue about the harm, but there are definitely no mice. This means environmental friendliness is out of the question if mice do not live there.
pros
The body and sound insulation at a height in the floor between the floors is almost inaudible sounds from the top floor. Perfectly isolates niches with communications, inaudible sound of sewers. If the price is confusing, order delivery from the manufacturer and not from the dealer and you will save. In order to lay the insulation yourself, see YouTube, everything is there.

G. Penza and the first experience with the use of Ecowool insulation
A comment
Good afternoon, dear builders) It was a lot of thought than to insulate your cozy home. I surfed the entire Internet in search of a worthy insulation, as a result I decided to insulate with ecowool. I turned to one company that is engaged in the production and installation of this insulation. The company has existed for more than 10 years in the Penza market, which means that the company is in demand (I thought). Workers insulated a house in 150sq.m in 4 hours, which is very fast. The boiler operates at 30% of its capacity at -20 degrees outside the window. And at home, millet Tashkent).
pros
I looked at the roll insulation at an average price, estimated that it was much cheaper for ecowool and now I know what is better. The workers said that for ecowools no additional poro-hydro isolation is needed, which still saved me money.

No cons yet.

Harmful borates contained in ecowool.
A comment
The material, like insulation, is a good noise insulator. The laying technology allows to warm with a seamless carpet. It is IMPOSSIBLE to apply in housing construction. . In 1 kg. Ecowool - 200 grams of boron-containing toxic substances (boric acid and borax). According to hygienic standards, the maximum concentration limit for borates in air is 0.02 mg per cubic meter, the maximum concentration limit for water is 0.5 mg per cubic meter. The lethal dose when taken orally for an adult is 15 to 20 grams, for a child 4 to 5 grams. Any gap in the building structure can cause borates to enter the room and poison the residents. The frame house 6 x 6 x 3 meters contains more than 350 kg. specified toxic substances. When demolishing such a house, they will poison everything around. Moreover, they have no smell or taste. A person will not feel danger.
pros
Material performance is very good
Minuses
The presence of a large amount of boric acid and borax, harmful to the human body, brings to a tet all the advantages of this insulation. It is dangerous to use it.

The use of ecowool insulation leaves only positive results.
A comment
My husband and I decided to start building our house. They erected a foundation, built a house, and then a problem arose than how to insulate it. Selected material for insulation is not long. Of course, there were many options, but we stopped at ecowool. Polyfoam would be cheaper, but the effect, as people advised us, would not be that.

Impressions exceeded all our expectations! No waste, the material was fully used. Ecowool protects us from cold and heat. We are next in line for the construction of the bathhouse. We, without hesitation, will use only ecowool. After all, not one insulation does not give such an effect as this. Even a little more expensive, but the result is really good!
pros
It is very good in that it is an environmentally friendly product that is immune to mold and rot, resistant to high temperatures, easy to use, and sold at an affordable price for such a product.

Ecowool is not only high-quality thermal insulation, but also reliable noise insulation. It is able to fill with itself all the cracks, bumps on the walls and slopes. The great advantages of ecowool are that it prevents the formation of condensation, protects the house from rotting and rodents. And yet that is important for a heater, it allows the house to breathe.
Minuses
We simply did not find any cons.

Ecowool - an indispensable insulation for different purposes
A comment
Not so long ago, cellulose-based heaters known to our market are not yet taken quite seriously in the construction market. Although the term “ecowool” is increasingly heard among professionals, it often means completely different products, confusing this type of insulation with other mineral wool insulation. In fact, this is recycled cellulose (otherwise just waste paper) with special latent and other additives that turn the source material into a unique thermal insulation product.

I personally had to deal with ecowool in my own production of metal entrance doors when I was looking for the cheapest material. It was with this that the product first became interested, without which now I can not imagine work at all.
pros
Low price, due to the low cost of raw materials. Secondly, the material perfectly retains heat, is not affected by moisture, mold and harmful microorganisms. Thirdly, it is absolutely safe both at work and in the process of its further use. And finally, it’s just convenient to work with him. Although it is very far from the classical understanding of how we perceive the concept of “cotton wool” - these are just gray cellulose granules.
Minuses
Of the minuses of ecowool, one can only name the need to comply with the storage conditions of raw materials - primarily moisture, otherwise the material is covered with a strong crust. Although the solution to this is very simple - hermetically sealed plastic bags.

My experience of using ecowool for insulation of walls and floor of a veranda
A comment
A year ago, after the construction of the house was completed, the question arose of choosing a heater for the walls. A lot of options were offered, some praised mineral slabs, others ecowool. I decided to start with ecowool to insulate the floor and walls on the veranda, which I planned to use as a living room in the winter. He did not lay the insulation himself, but hired a team, which, using a device similar to a vacuum cleaner, distributed material under drywall. The builders assured that in this way ecowool granules penetrate into all cracks, gaps and create a monolithic coating. All the work of warming the veranda took half a day.

A year later, I decided to evaluate the results. What can I say, the veranda did not freeze in winter, although the temperature sometimes reached -40 degrees at night. Vata is really natural and safe for the lungs, I judge from my own experience. I have a child who is allergic and has cough and runny nose for some building materials. The noise has decreased, if earlier I heard voices on the street beautifully at night, now I only serve sharp sounds. There is no draft, and at the same time, the humidity in the room remained at a normal level, that is, as promised, the insulation breathes, letting in air.

In the summer, having removed part of the floor, I decided to see the state of ecowool. The lumps remained dry, the insulation did not sag, mice often ran under the house during construction, and I thought that they would feel great in cotton wool. But I did not find traces of their stay, just as there is no fungus and mold.

It seems to me that if ecowool retains part of the heat and lasts longer than mineral insulation, then its price will be justified in several years. I'm going to insulate the garage, and in a year, if everything is fine, the whole house. The only bad thing is that you need to hire a team - in a manual way, I think you won’t put ecowool so carefully.
pros
Safety for health, high sound insulation, warmth in the room, speed of installation with special devices, lack of traces of the activity of rodents, insects, fungi, breathability.
Minuses
The price is higher than for some miniplates, with manual styling the process is long and not of such high quality, dust gets into the eyes, on the face, so you need to wear a protective mask.
