Restoration by the method "ACRYLIC INSERT, INSERT to the bathtub":

Between the insert and the bath, ALWAYS condensation will form.
The water will begin to rot and the fungus will go all over the bath.

This video is from the USA. And there is the same story with the fungus.

Acrylic liner is just like a real bath
A comment
An acrylic liner was installed last year. Visually, my steel bath naturally transformed. It looks beautiful, looks like a full-fledged acrylic bathtub, it's easy to take care of it (I buy only liquid cleaners, without chemicals in the composition).

The liner has a lot of drawbacks for me, for this very reason I decided this year to fully replace the bathtub. I will not advise, for me the insert turned out to be just a sham.
pros
- cost;
- quick solution for an old bath;
- installation takes place in a couple of hours;
- looks good outwardly.
Minuses
- the attitude should be careful;
- you can not put heavy things;
- when you wash in the bath you feel like in a plastic basin;
- under the liner there is a void that feels good;
- the bath pops and creaks;
- on the sides there are burrs that can scratch the body;
- after the shower head fell into the bath, cracks appeared on it.

more than one year

Acrylic bath liner does not cost money
A comment
For the new year, my husband and I decided to give parents a pleasant and useful gift at the same time - to restore the old shabby bathtub by installing an acrylic liner in it. The master did everything quickly, there was a lot of noise, but it can be endured.

At first, everyone was just happy about the renewed bath; relatives even wanted to install it. But after a while it became clear that there are a lot of problems with the acrylic liner. It is necessary to treat it very carefully, namely:

- in no case, you can not put heavy objects in the bath;
- clean only with liquid products;
- if you drop something in the bathtub (including a bottle with shampoo), then chips, cracks, etc. may form;
- you can’t wash your pets in such a bath; scratches remain from the claws.

Six months later, the bath became cloudy, in some places cracks appeared on the insert and began to creak. 2.
pros
Quick installation
Minuses
Not practical, not convenient, requires careful handling, has served a little time, cost

Beautiful, fast, cheaper than a new bathroom
A comment
My wife was in a position and we began to think what to do with the old bathroom. I didn’t really want to bathe the child in the peeling bath, and as a result decided on an acrylic liner. We ordered it through the online store, everything cost 4500 (considering the installation). The color chosen is white. The installation was done by a specialist, and he also brought us an insert. At first glance, the liner looks like the most ordinary bath, only in weight it is lighter and much thinner.

The insert had wide edges, the master measured our bath and cut out the edges necessary for us on the insert with a grinder. Then he cleaned the old bath, applied a special liquid resembling glue and placed a liner on top.
3 years have passed from that moment and everything is wonderful. The bath is not slippery, the liner is washed well, we often bathe the child in herbs. No unpleasant odor appeared, the liner was installed qualitatively. And the bathtub has now become much warmer, even without water it’s nice to get up in it.

The only disadvantage of this invention is the fragility of the coating, it can easily be scratched or damaged.

We are very sorry that we installed an acrylic liner.

Several years ago, we decided with my husband to restore our old cast-iron bath. Having seen enough advertising, we decided to buy an acrylic liner in the bath. This pleasure cost us 6,000 rubles.

After installing the liner by the master, everything was wonderful, we really liked it, the bathtub just changed: it became snow-white, beautiful and warm. But all our joy began to subside with lightning speed in about a year. The bathtub began to depressurize in places, all of this happened due to the fact that water fell into the openings between the old bathtub and the acrylic liner. Gradually, the walls began to bend, an unpleasant, musty odor began to appear in the bathtub due to rotting water. So the liner turned out to be complete nonsense.

If you are thinking that a new bathtub or an acrylic liner is better, don’t even think about buying a new bathtub, otherwise you will waste your money.

Great alternative to buying a new bath
A comment
5 years ago, we had a need to repair a cast-iron bath or replace it altogether. The old enamel was all frayed, worn out, and so they began to think that it was better to buy a new one or insert an acrylic liner.

But in the end, we settled on the second option, it turned out to be cheaper. The liner, the entire installation and discharge came to us only 4,500 rubles. The insert itself resembles an ordinary bath, only several times lighter in weight. The thickness of the plastic from all edges was about 6 mm. The entire installation of the liner took 1 hour.

We clean the liner only with liquid means, scratches can appear from the powders. The material, although fragile, is quite stable. Quietly withstands weight of 130 kg. The acrylic liner is many times warmer than cast iron, in this I think only the plus of the liner. So do not be afraid, our liner serves us faithfully, we advise.
pros
Cheaper than buying a new one
Minuses
fragile material
Term of use
more than five years
