Cast iron bathtubs

Cast iron bathtubs are familiar to everyone, since this material was used for their production in Soviet times. Cast iron is a durable material with the ability to retain heat for a long time and absorb sounds. The weight of the bathroom is about 120 kg, which can be regarded as a virtue, because you will not need to additionally take care of the fasteners. Reviews of cast-iron baths are time-tested, because such products are available in almost every home. If you have experience using more modern bathtubs and you can compare them with cast-iron, please leave your opinion.

Reviews about the operation of cast-iron bathtubs

I am an old-school girl, so between acrylic and cast iron (I do not consider steel at all) I choose cast iron. It’s just that everyone used to have cast-iron bathtubs and I’m somehow used to it. BUT, except for this:

1) Unlike acrylic, a cast-iron bathtub seems somewhat solid and reliable, in a cast-iron bathtub I can stand, jump, run. In acrylic, it seems to me that it will break as soon as I get up in it, even though I weigh a little.

2) I hear from some people that acrylic is painted if you use all kinds of salts and foams, which I love. Cast iron does not have this, the main thing is not to buy a cast-iron bathtub with an anti-slip coating - then it will turn gray.

3) Your granny will thank you for preserving the Soviet heritage Well it is, for the third point.

From cast iron, I personally prefer Jacob Delafon, and I can buy Jacob Delafon to be sure of originality only on Skype and Leroy Marlene

Cast-iron bathtub Novial Susan - poor quality
A comment
I regret that I purchased the cast-iron bathtub Novial Susan, it did not live up to all my expectations, and on the contrary, it disappointed during operation.
The three of us brought her into the apartment, a heavy bath 200 kg. The enamel is white and glossy, the shape of the bathtub is rectangular. Sizes of 180X80X50 cm, a large bathtub, with my 176 cm, I calmly stretch my legs in it and do not reach the edge. And for my son, a bath is like a small pool.

The enamel is smooth, but has a terrible structure, dirt literally eats into it. Which can only be washed with severe altereria. The quality of enamel leaves much to be desired, after 3-4 months a crack at the bottom appeared.
Together with the bathroom, legs were sold that easily withstand this engine, they can be adjusted to the desired level.

A bathtub of 3, although completely satisfied in size, is of poor quality and not durable.
pros
Large, comfortable. Glossy boiling white enamel.
Minuses
The enamel is of poor quality, quickly cracking and attracts dirt very much.

more than one year

An error occurred while buying a bath Roca Malibu
A comment
The repairs were done 4 years ago, and it was then that the Roca Malibu cast-iron bathtub was bought, which I absolutely dislike. But it will not be possible to change it, it is tiled on all sides, you will have to change it all at once, and this is a considerable cost. A bathtub of standard sizes - 170X75 cm, looks pretty decent, but I do not advise you to buy it.
pros
- high-quality enamel;
- I like that the bathtub is equipped with handles, it is convenient to get up from it;
- beautiful design, the bathtub looks stylish and modern.
Minuses
- it is not deep, the bath does not even completely cover the body, it is not comfortable, to be honest;
- at the bottom there is an anti-slip coating, dirt is constantly accumulating in these strips, which is very difficult to wash. So it turns out that the bottom of the bathtub has an untidy, dirty shade. And then there is no sense in the coating, the child fell in the bath;
- the cost is not cheap.

Bathtubs of the Novokuznetsk plant "Nega" - do not take it!
A comment
It was urgent to replace the old cast-iron bathtub, with a broken acrylic liner. Therefore, the choice was made quickly in favor of the cast-iron bathtub of the Novokuznetsk Nega plant. Outwardly, I liked her very much, the first thing everyone thought was how beautiful she was, snow-white. But at the first bathing there was a complete disappointment! Hands can not be extended along the body, but what's there, even nowhere to put elbows. We do not have complete families in the family, but everything is cramped in this bath, even in a sitting state you feel constrained.

And another huge drawback, it is very difficult to achieve initial whiteness. Plaque builds up on the surface of the enamel, which is very difficult to clean, the enamel turned out to be porous.

So it turns out that we now rarely use the bathroom for its intended purpose, it’s somehow impossible to lie there with a book and relax. I do not advise taking it.
pros
Durable, keeps warm
Minuses
For a normal adult, small, poorly laundered

more than three years

Silver Ressa 1.7 bathtub - the best of bathtubs!
A comment
The old apartment had a large cast-iron bathtub, it was already used to it. Recently we moved to a new apartment and found that there is a bathtub of 150 cm length in the bathroom and, in addition, steel. For some time I had to forget what it was like to take a bath. I didn’t choose a bath for a long time, I used to work in a construction company and since then I knew that the best cast-iron bathtubs are made in Kirov. I took a Silver Ressa-1.7 bathtub, 170 cm long. The bathtub is wide, deep, it is a pleasure to lie in it. When filling with hot water, cast iron begins to warm up quickly and the water in the bath cools very slowly.

The bath is made according to the latest technologies, a certain amount of silver is added to the enamel, due to which it has an antibacterial property.
Complete with a bathtub were legs, a siphon, a drain-overflow system. Quality suits completely.
pros
High quality and reliable
Minuses
Heavy

Timo GRAND bathtub - quality, but not practical
A comment
I wanted a cast-iron bath, of course there was a stereotype around them that they were simply unbearable, but that was already far in the last century. Now you can buy a cast-iron bathtub, which will weigh half as much as before.

Timo GRAND bathtub - cast iron, produced in Finland. There are handles on the sides, with their help getting out of the bath is much easier. There is an anti-slip coating in the form of stars, but for the child I still have an extra special mat. Drain both opens and closes with an automatic button. The bath, although wide (75 cm), but inside there is a bulge due to which an adult is not comfortable in it. The bath perfectly holds heat, it is not noisy. During use, no complaints about the quality of the coating were caused. I will advise the brand, but not such a model, it is very small.
pros
It is well cleaned, keeps warm
Minuses
Adult is not comfortable in it
