Laminate or linoleum - customer reviews

Disappointment

There was experience in using class 33 laminate: for 4 years, the space under the computer table was worn out and in some places it was swollen from the water. Pros: nice to walk and comfortable to care for. Therefore, when repairing in a new apartment, they decided in favor of linoleum due to the fact that it is quick and easy to line, there is a good choice, and dishes will not fight with children

Well, to be durable bought Tarkett semi-commercial. In use, one and a half years and as a result: when cleaning, she moved the sofa, the leg tore and jammed linoleum, scratches from fallen sharp objects. It is difficult to clean, 2-3 times a month with my brush, because the texture is like a tree. It always seems that the floor is dirty. In the kitchen from dents dents and all the same dishes beat In general, the price is the same (33sq.m. 18t.r). The only plus - fit in an hour! It’s probably better to take a commercial one so that it’s definitely nothing happened to him, but that’s another money ...

I am against the laminate.
A comment
To begin with, I live in an old house and floor repair cost me a very round amount, since under the laminate it is necessary to level the floor to the ideal. Firstly, the repair was delayed because of this so that it was not happy with this repair. A laminate of category 34 was laid in the hall, well, I really wanted to. What do I have after 3 years of use, in the window area the laminate has spread because of the water, but it does not swell, it seems to diverge, as a result I bought wax and touched the seams, but over time the wax crackes and this is not beautiful, only the option to replace this area .

While the builders were doing the repair, they dropped something heavy, so there is a chip, it's hard to drop anything hard. If you have animals, then I also think you should not cover the floor with a laminate. If you are a very neat person, then only in this case is such a gender for you. I have many flowers and when I watered the flowers I didn’t realize that the water flowed from the pallets to the floor. I want to compare with linoleum under the laminate, a friend at that time was also doing repairs, but the linoleum was semi-commercial, so nothing happened to the floor in 3 years. If you still tend to laminate, then now there is a laminate that can be varnished in 2-3 layers, do not be stingy, it costs more, but it's worth it.

Definitely linoleum
A comment
It is important to make the right choice of flooring for a particular room. Of course, for the kitchen linoleum and not otherwise. Having laid four years ago, I have never regretted my choice. Repair in the apartment was done by a team of craftsmen. We laid everything smoothly and quickly. Linoleum is a reliable material, practical, easy to care for and a big plus - it is water resistant, which is why the laminate does not stand out. The main thing is not stingy, and buy quality material. Semi-commercial linoleum is the most.
pros
A large assortment of linoleum: colors and textures, helps to choose to your taste and at the desired price.

In my opinion the laminate is better
A comment
The usual linoleum was removed from the kitchen floor with relief: it is tired! His bare feet were freezing, there were traces of constant wiping with a damp cloth, and scratches from cat's claws could not be hidden. Laminate in the kitchen was so liked by all family members that then we without hesitation laid it everywhere.

For three years, the floor has not changed at all: no chips and no damage, the color is beautiful. There are no maintenance difficulties. Our family will definitely not return to linoleum. If your repair is just planned, do not save on laying the laminate and entrust it to professionals.
pros
What are we satisfied with? Heat: the legs of the babies do not freeze. Practicality: we move furniture, drop thick books, dance on high heels, laugh at cat games - there are no traces! Appearance: the light floor looks like a luxurious monolith. Price: buying and assembling German middle class material was cheaper than a good advertised linoleum.
Minuses
A drawback is his fear of water. Spilled lemonade must be wiped immediately, otherwise the floor will swell. In tidy I use only special fluids - this is also a cost.

My choice in favor of linoleum
A comment
Everyone at least once came across a repair. It didn’t matter if it was started out of necessity or at will, made independently or with the help of wage workers.

When I came across this event, the “stumbling block” was the issue of choosing a floor covering. Linoleum or laminate? I decided in favor of linoleum.

Many tend to think that a laminate is better and more prestigious, I do not agree with this. Its cost is significantly higher than the cost of linoleum, but what do we get as a result?

The need for floor leveling (additional costs). Given that the vast majority of apartments are old, floors in 90 cases out of 100 will be uneven. It is not possible to lay out such a floor with a laminate, and if you can, then it will quickly deform and become unusable.

Instability to moisture. Liquids entering the laminate floor are undesirable and sometimes fatal. This is especially true of the area of joints between its parts.

Laborious and lengthy work. To lay out the floor, the masters take about 1-2 days, now imagine how long this process will take you when laying the floor yourself.
Scratches. When moving heavy furniture, you can “scratch” a laminate floor “well”.

As for linoleum, then everything is much simpler and more pleasant:

Unlimited choice and low cost of the material (even the “most expensive” linoleum will cost less than a laminate).
More convenient transformation and transportation of material (turned into a roll and drove off).

Easy to apply. Yes, of course, a flat floor is also desirable here. But even with deviations from the norm, it can be set up without negative impact on the material itself and the help of specialists.
Water resistant.

Shape recovery. If a dent is left on the linoleum from the furniture, after a while it will restore its shape (does not apply to cheap and low-quality material).

In my opinion, these are very convincing indicators to make a choice in favor of linoleum. After repair, no problems and difficulties arose with him. Appearance of 10 out of 10, it is very easy to clean. I advise!
pros
All the advantages in favor of linoleum see above.
Minuses

Our choice of linoleum but commercial or semi-commercial
A comment
My husband and I needed to change the flooring in the kitchen and living room. The question arose - what to buy, linoleum or laminate? After a short discussion, they made a Solomon decision - to lay linoleum in the kitchen, and laminate in the room. A year has passed. And here are the conclusions we have come to.

Linoleum (we took PVC) is a fairly practical material. They laid him on the floor quickly, without any problems, the husband spent about an hour on time (this is undercutting). He managed it himself, did not ask anyone to help.

Linoleum is moisture resistant, it can often be washed and wiped, it can be washed easily. Walking on it is nice, it is quite “warm”. If you drop something, it falls without “thunder” and does not fight. Yes, and the little granddaughter fell many times - there were no bruises.

Pleased with the choice of colors. Another plus - they picked up a piece just across the width of the kitchen, bed without seams. Yes, and at a price inexpensive.

As for the laminate - it looks great, like a real tree. The floor is flat, smooth. Walking on it is nice.

It is quite difficult to assemble it, we called the styling master.

It’s easy to take care of such a floor - wiped it with a damp cloth, and that’s all. If you wash, and even with a special tool, stains remain.

We were told that the laminate is scratch and dent resistant. But after several visits by her little granddaughters, she noticed scratches on the surface. He cost us a decent amount, although not a natural tree. And such a bummer!

And one more “minus” - after a year of operation, the floor began to creak.

What conclusion did my husband and I make for ourselves? Both linoleum and laminate are good in their own way. For the price, both a quality laminate and linoleum are almost the same. But still, my husband and I decided to give preference to linoleum. True, I would now choose him commercial.
pros
Linoleum with a denser coating (semi-commercial or commercial) almost does not miss, it is very durable. With a huge selection of colors and appropriate quality, this coating can not be immediately distinguished from natural. Does not creak when walking. Practical. Well, bored - you can always change, and yourself, quickly and easily.
Minuses
Linoleum (we took it cheaper) - with frequent washing, the coating pattern is slowly erased. Where we go most of all - we have already trodden the path (we have a lot of people walking around - children often come, grandchildren). That is, the view is slowly being lost. At first, the smell from him was, but not strong. Weathered quickly enough.
