Volma bulk floors - user reviews, recommendations and opinions

The consumption per square meter is more than indicated on the bag. With the amount of water, too, that is too thick it turns out quickly hardens, you do not have time to get a bad flow, in general I do not advise you to buy it.

You need more water than indicated in the instructions and how much can be accurately determined only from experience
A comment
Poured the floor in the room to 18 squares. If diluted according to the instructions, the mixture comes out too thick. Is there one to fill, then during the time between measurements the previous platform has time to dry out. As a result, it is very difficult to make smooth transitions between sections, and most importantly, it is impossible to fill a large area at a time and the floor goes multilevel. In addition, in such a thick mixture, the needle roller leaves small pits.

As a result, kneading 8.5 liters per 1 bag. Here I really liked it. The mixture spread almost itself very smoothly and solidified a little longer. I removed the excess water from the room into the corridor through a slot in the rim of the mounting foam, and then fill the entire surface with sawdust and shavings that absorbed water.
pros
affordable price, durable and even layer
Minuses
the dry mixture is not enough for the area specified in the instructions, you need to add more water.

Optimum material
A comment
After buying an apartment in a new building in full growth, the question arose about the floors. Despite the rather big price, concrete screeds in all rooms resembled a rather stormy sea. Wave differences could be up to 3 cm. And this is considering that almost everywhere there was a bias towards the door. Therefore, a lot of material was needed to level the floor. I opted for Volma bulk floors, primarily because of their affordable cost.

I stirred two bags at once in a plastic barrel. At first, the water was strictly dosed, as indicated in the instructions on the package. But, as experience has shown, you need to add a little more water so that the mixture spreads better.

Using a needle roller, I rolled out a layer to expel all the bubbles. The mixture dried in 5, 6 hours, giving a flat and smooth surface. Later, I laid linoleum on this floor, laid laminate and ceramic tiles.
pros
Quality, fast pouring and drying.
Minuses
Water is needed more than indicated in the instructions and how much can be accurately determined only by experience.

The material is not bad, but you need to fill it up very quickly
A comment
When repairing an apartment, the question arose of leveling the floor in a room of 11 squares. After looking at the price tags in the stores and asking the masters, I decided to opt for the Volma level. After the purchase and the start of work, the first trouble appeared. Despite the fact that the fill layer was less than 1 cm, somewhere from 0.7 to 0.9 cm. Exactly one bag was not enough for the area of the room. While traveling for the missing bag, it took about 40 minutes. During this time, already flooded, part managed to harden, so the overlay came out. For laying a laminate - this is not critical, but still unpleasant.

So take a few tips:

- It is better to buy one extra bag, since the cost allows;
- You need to work only together, one kneads, the other fills and levels;
- Mixing is best done in two bags.
pros
price dries quickly
Minuses
need more than indicated in the instructions, After complete drying in the place of application of the layers cracks went.

Volma level - easy to use bulk floor
A comment
I have been working with this mixture professionally for several years. Despite its affordable cost, it is not suitable for coarse screed. The solution itself is very dense and too much material is left on thick layers. I use Volma level mainly for finishing and pre-finishing leveling. Most importantly, this mixture dries very quickly. After a few days, you can already begin further work. For example, in a 1 cm layer, after 5-6 hours you can move around, and after 2, 3 days you can lay linoleum, parquet, laminate anything. Once I even made a 3D polyurethane floor.

The preparation of the base is very simple, the concrete slab needs to be primed two times, the rough cement-sand screed - 3.4 times. The most important thing is to strictly observe the proportions indicated on the bag and thoroughly walk with a needle roller, extracting all the air from the thickness of the layer.
pros
It is well leveled, easily spreads, dries quickly, cheaper than other mixtures.
Minuses
It lays down in thick layers.

Volma bulk floor - good quality at a budget cost
A comment
Used Volma bulk floor 2 times. The first time last year in the country as a leveling mixture in the kitchen. The floor stood for a whole year as a working surface, it had to have tiles on it, but his hands did not reach. The solution is very convenient to use, it spreads easily, it is practically not necessary to level it. Gives a strong surface. Every weekend a year we walked across the floor at the dacha - there were no cracks or scuffs at the end of the season, as well as no swelling after wintering.

The second time I bought it purposefully, made a leveling screed in the bathroom under the tile. Everything must be done strictly according to the instructions. Especially observe the proportions of water. It is imperative to drive out the air with a needle roller, otherwise holes from bubbles will appear. Beacons must be used even in a small room. Primer several times before pouring. And after pouring completely eliminate drafts otherwise it will crack. Tile glued in 7 days.
pros
Adequate affordable price, gives a solid flat surface.
Minuses
Not yet discovered.

Volma Level - this bulk floor is suitable only for rough leveling
A comment
I decided to fill the room with 12 m2 immediately without any division into parts. To do this, I took 2 basins of 60 liters each, in which 3 bags of volma were placed. Unpacked the rest of the bags in advance, also measured the water in advance in order to quickly knead the second portion. All proportions according to the instructions indicated on the bag itself. The room was flooded with an assistant. Together they managed for 20-25 minutes. But the mixture turned out to be very thick and so that there would be no grooves from the roller, I did not roll it. The level was deduced as a rule, and after drying it turned out that the walls had recesses up to half a centimeter, had to be added separately. In general, the result was 4. Under a thick lineoleum or laminate, it will work.

The conclusion is that we need experience in doing such work so as not to mess up. It is necessary to fill in for 10-15 minutes, in order to have time to level until thickened and drive away from the bubbles with a roller.
pros
affordable, gives a solid surface (I have a layer thickness of 1-1.5 cm)
Minuses
it thickens very quickly, it’s almost impossible to independently fill a room immediately with more than 10 m, and experience is necessary for pouring parts.

A Worthy Mix
A comment
Aligned the room to 19 m2 on an old cement-sand screed. Divided the room into 3 parts of about 6 squares each. It took up to 45 minutes to fill each part and 6-9 bags of mixture (the old floors are very uneven). I worked with two friends in the conveyor way: the first measures the dry mixture and pours water, I stir, the second pours out and equalizes with a spatula. The layer was from 3 mm to 3 cm. Although it spreads well, less than 5 mm is better not to fill. Ideally, it turned out on a site with a depth of about 1 cm. We used dowels screwed into the floor at a distance of 1 m as beacons. The base was well primed, even in 4 layers. Bubbles were only in the first section, and then 10 pieces no more. There we added water to a minimum and the finished solution turned out to be a little thick. Then 6.5 l was added per bag (at a rate of 5.85-6.8 l) and the density of the prepared solution was like that of kefir - it accelerates well over the surface.
pros
Low cost, low consumption (relatively), dries quickly, the surface is smooth. Under the laminate it’s just perfect, I suspect that under linoleum it would be normal.
Minuses
The expense indicated is incorrect. On the bag 12.5 kg per 1 m2 with a thickness of 10 mm. in fact, I got about 14 kg.
