Round log

Wood is the most environmentally friendly and suitable material for the construction of private residential buildings. Reviews of the owners of houses made of logs can dispel your doubts about the choice of this material. In fact, it is a modern version of a conventional log, it is processed with special compounds, has a cylindrical shape and a longer service life. The rounded log does not require external decoration of the house. Interior decoration may also not be performed, it all depends on your desire.

Developer reviews on the use of logs

We are for glue

We have a house made of glued beams. The level of insulation is quite satisfactory. Again, we avoided home care procedures, but at the same time, as it seems to me, we did not lose anything. We live only 2 years. I have never regretted choosing this particular material. Of course, the question is who and how assembled, but we were lucky with the builders. The brigade got sensible (Vault-system), assembled efficiently and relatively quickly. By the way, they turned our attention to this building material.

Round log - preventing imperfections
A comment
Each material has its drawbacks and positive qualities. Therefore, when I decided to build a house out of logs, I knew that I would encounter certain difficulties.
Since a rounded log is wood, cracking is inevitable. I was ready for such a phenomenon and processed the ends of the logs with lime. It looks neat and uniform moisture output prevents the appearance of cracks.

The diameter of the logs for the outer walls used 320 mm, and for the internal partitions 180 mm. Well-made bowls do not let cold air through. I have a gas boiler, which at a set temperature of 50 degrees holds +22 0С in winter cold.

The exterior of the house is very attractive. The logs were already processed at the factory with an antifungal compound, and I simply covered the finished walls with drying oil.
pros
No need for additional decoration, keeps warm for a long time.
Minuses
Expensive

Log house, live well in it
A comment
Last summer, my dream came true. The construction is over. I moved to my own house. I immediately decided on the choice of material (I come from the village), of course, from logs. Ecological purity, and it will stand idle for about 100 years. The natural smell of wood is incomparable. Not for nothing that our grandfathers preferred a log cabin to any other dwelling.

One tip, when you choose, be sure to order logs that have been aged for at least a year so that they do not crack afterwards. The logs are perfectly flat and the log house was collected using a truck crane in one shift, laying a jute tape between them. After it, it was treated with a special water-repellent composition, preventing the effect of atmospheric precipitation on them. After such treatment, the house can not be sheathed. True, it took me a long time to finish it - all summer. But now it’s even hard to imagine how I could live in a cramped apartment before. Tolerate loud music from neighbors when he wanted to sleep and fall asleep to the eternal noise of water pipes. And now ... Silence and calm. The soul is resting.
pros
The minimum construction time, environmental cleanliness, health microclimate, the life of more than 100 years
Minuses
It requires subsequent sheathing or processing with special compounds once every 5-7 years.

Environmentally friendly material at an affordable price!

Last year, we bought a plot for the construction of a summer house (summer house), we used logs as a material for the construction. The construction took only a few days, because the logs fit perfectly on each other and the construction proceeded very quickly. Before construction, it was necessary to treat the log with an antiseptic, in order to avoid fungus and insects.

Such an operation will have to be done at least every 5 years, but I do not consider this a big minus. In summer, the house enjoys a pleasant coolness, in the cold season - on the contrary, it remains warm. In addition to all this, a house made of logs is beautiful from the aesthetic side. It’s not worth mentioning ecology at all, I think so, and everything is clear.)
pros
Regulates the temperature inside the house, beautiful, cheap
